What a horrible few days

What a horrible few days I’ve had. A presentation and 3 projects in 2 days. I didn’t even get to one of the projects, but luckily I get a drop on one of the projects in the class. I’ve been meaning to get the Drink of the Week up but I haven’t had the time. Well, now is as good a time as any I guess.

Drink of the Week
Ok fellas, this week we dive into the realm of the rare and sophisticated. Not too many places will serve this particular drink because it’s a little expensive to make but it’s becoming more and more popular. I am talking about the chocolate martini. Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you, I said chocolate martini. How on Earth is this possible you say? Well, the nice folks at Godiva chocolate produce a very nice liquer that is flavored with their excellent chocolate. This, combined with other alcohols produce a very nice drink known as the chocolate martini. Here’s the info:

1 1/2 oz Godiva liqueur
1 1/2 oz Creme de cacao
1/2 oz Vodka
1 oz Bailey’s Irish Creme
Dark Chocolate syrup

First off, you prepare the martini glass. You want to chill it a bit first by putting it in the freezer. Next, take the dark chocolate syrup and coat the rim. The best way to do it is to just dip the rim of the glass in some dark chocolate and then turn the glass till the rim is all covered. Now, take a martini shaker, fill it with ice and pour in all the alcohol. Give it 2-3 good swirls/shakes and pour into the martini glass. If you wish, you can float in a bit of dark chocolate to take away some of the sweetness of the drink. Enough for 2 chocolate martinis.

A restaurant in Pasadena called Mi Piace is where I was first introduced to this drink. I have to say it is pretty damned good. This is a very nice drink to have after dinner as a dessert or something. It has a very sweet flavor to it but the dark chocolate kind of counteracts that. Nice flavor and has a good kick if you drink it all by yourself =)
