Weekend Update My good friend

Weekend Update

My good friend Alex expressed how much he liked reading about my weekend so I thought it’d be a good idea to finally do another one. I have been behind and I really do feel bad. Sorry, I’ve just been busy … or lazy.

Friday – Dressed up. Looked stunning. Went to Taco Bell for lunch. Have not eaten there in months. I really like the food. They have this new caramel apple empenada. I love how they try to make it Mexican rather than calling it what it really is – an Apple Pie! Afterward, went back to work and played ping pong. And worked of course. After work I went to Trader Joe’s to get groceries. Later that night, Nick and Jason left for Berkeley. Michelle hung around and we watched Donnie Darko and the end of Assassins. I saw the latter many years ago. I really like it. Man, Julianne Moore is so hot.

Saturday – What did I do? I did various errands. I think I might have gone to Vons at some point. Or was that Sunday? In the early evening I went for a bike ride. About 4 miles from home, I get a call from Alli telling me about plans for that night. I went home and showered and changed and called her back. Plan was to meet at Aaron and Colleen’s place and then off to Dargan’s downtown. We all piled into Aaron’s car and went downtown where we met more of their friends. I played a game of pool. Did horrible. I had three drinks which is 2 more than I normally have. We went home and to sleep.

Sunday – Ok, I think today was the Vons day. I got clam chowder (yummy) and some more yummy groceries. Man, I love this market. At some point I watched Poolhall Junkies, except I don’t remember exactly which day it was. Sad, huh? Anyway, the movie is very film student/independent -ish. It had notable quotables though. Like this one:

[The poolhall falls silent]

Johnny Doyle : Oh, did I stutter? Everybody gone all quiet and shit? About a minute ago it was like an evening at the Apollo up in this motherfucker, now all of a sudden it’s quiet as a church… That’s alright Chico, I don’t blame you. I’ve been beatin’ this Jimmy Walker lookin’ motherfucker all god damn night, he can’t win.

Chico : You’d better watch your mouth Johnny!

Johnny Doyle : You watch my mouth Chico! Cause you sure as hell don’t wanna watch me play pool. Unless, of course, I’m blind folded and hand cuffed with a pool cue stickin’ out of my ass. Or maybe you’d bet the twenty thousand then?

At night I packed and got ready for the the retreat the next day.

Monday – We had the morning meeting. Then the new Chicken Ranch for lunch. I had to stop by Vons to get contact solution. While I was in the store, I got a call on my cell phone from a lady trying to phish for information. I was confused at first but got rid of her quickly when I realized what was going on. After the developer’s meeting we left for Refugio State Beach.

Tuesday – We woke up early, broke down camp, went down to the beach and kayaked to El Capitan. Luckily I went with Klaus, our Founder, because the kayaking people were having a fit that I couldn’t swim. So we make it there and everyone was pretty tired. We had lunch catered by Silvergreens and it was not too bad except there was not much food to eat. The previous night, people were getting second and third helpings. After, we had a scavenger hunt contest which was incredibly lame IMO. Our team tied for last place with zero points.

A few of us decided it’d be a good idea to walk the 3 miles back. Bad idea. It was incredibly tiring. It didn’t help that I was wearing river shoes which are not really meant for walking. They are like thick socks. I also had sand in them so they were rubbing aginst my skin causing it to become irritated. Everytime I stepped on a rock, I could feel it at the bottom of my feet. Horrible. After we got back, Nick drove me to work to get my car, then we went home where I was tired the rest of the night.

The End 🙂

  • I think you watched Poolhall Junkies on Saturday because that night, when we are about to play, you said “Watch out man, I just watched Poolhall Junkies”, but then you lost 🙂
