Generally balloon falls are not that funny but I couldn’t stop laughing after reading the details of this story. Just imagine what is going on as you read the story.
“Kathleen J. Long, 53, of Phillipsburg (search), remained in critical condition Monday morning at St. Luke’s Hospital. Further details of the injuries she suffered in the accident Sunday were not disclosed.
It was not clear how Long’s leg got caught in the rope, but witnesses say she dangled from it for a short time and passed through several tree tops before she was knocked off. She then fell about 50 feet and crashed through the roof of the barn in Bethlehem Township”

Happy Halloween everyone. Stay safe out there when trick or treating or downing those shots at the local bar.
I don’t think there was any outting this weekend where I was not getting crap from someone. What’s funny is I received a phone call from a friend in SB finalizing our plans for Halloween and she asked “Are you having a good time in LA?” All I could muster was “Uh yeah good time, yeah uh huh”. Earlier in the week, I was debating whether I should come home or not. I clearly made the wrong choice.
Tomorrow’s Halloween so I am looking forward to that. Unfortunately, it’s a school night and my plans of checking out Isla Vista are probably already shot. Prime time would have been Friday-Sunday for sure. Speaking of good news, we all gained an hour of sleep this weekend. SCORE!
I picked up Nate and Kelly from the Citrix Online parking lot. I was DD tonight. I took off down Patterson and merged onto the 101 Southbound. From our elevated vantage point, we could see the traffic flow smoothly.
“Holy shit!” I exclaimed. “OMG!”
“What what? Oh man, what is that?”
I knew exactly what it was. I have been waiting a long time for this day.
I hit the gas hard. The automatic delay is not so noticeable in my TSX. Not *as* noticeable as my Celica. I was glad because I needed to play catchup quick.
“Nate quick, take a picture”

Nate is like me. Always ready to document life. He quickly grabbed my camera. I rolled his window down. I passed in the fast lane. The driver was middle aged, handsome, busily talking on his cell phone. I bet it was an important client, or maybe his mistress. He was oblivious to the world around him. A flash went off.
Immediately, he turned and grinned. We took him by surprise. Seeing a flash coming from the side of your car is not your run of the mill driving event. To assure him we were harmless, Kelly (in the backseat) started giving him the thumbs up enthusiastically. Nate and I followed suit.
“Dude, awesome car! YEAH!”
Then as I pulled past him, Nate took this parting shot. Not many cars under $20k can get three people this giddy with excitement. Partake in this visual droolfest, won’t you?
A few years ago, Mido and I went to the Museum of Tolerance. We got lost briefly and when we finally pulled into the underground garage, we were stopped by a lady security guard. She asked me to open my trunk. She checked it and under my car, probably for explosives. It really hit me how bad our world had become. That there was actually a threat of someone driving a bomb loaded car into the underground lot and blowing up the museum. And why not? There are plenty of groups out there that see the MOT in a bad light.
We got to the door and found we could not bring in our cameras. What if we promised not to take any pictures? Nope. No can do.
The museum was very cool. We were basically alone together the whole time. I guess it was not a popular time of day. We went through each exhibit, usually at different paces. I am usually pretty quick. It was very depressing. The last thing exhibit I remember was the WW2 concentration camp ones.
As we left, we looked outside the tall glass windows and saw children playing basketball in the adjacent yard. There was a sentry in a guardhouse keeping close watch. There was also a large steel barrier to prevent cars from coming in. I had no idea what the deal was. Were these Jewish kids that attended class at the museum?
As my car pulled out onto Pico and the setting sun hit my eyes, I looked over at Mido.
“Did you have fun?”
“Yeah. Well umm you know.”
And I did know.
