Pandora by the Music Genome Project

Ever get tired of what’s on your iPod? They keep playing the same thing on the radio? Wish you had somewhere to turn (besides me, of course) to get new music ideas?

Pandora is a free service that will help you do just that. You enter the name of an artist or song and they’ll create a radio station, just for you, that will play similar style music.

I typed in Jack Johnson and they played “The Horizon Has Been Defeated” to start off. That sets the tone. They explained why they chose the song:

“It features mellow rock instrumentation, a subtle use of vocal harmony, mild rhythmic syncopation, mixed acoustic and electric instrumentation and major key tonality.”

Uh, yeah. What he said.
