Nike SB Team Edition Barcelona

Nike SB Barcelona Thumb

It took a few tries but it looks like Nike finally has tapped that elusive skateboarding market. Though representing only a small portion of the company, Nike SB is making some of the largest strides in the company. The collaborations with skaters as well as street artists, is paying off. Bringing it back to the streets, Nike produced a Team Edition SB shoe which pays tribute to the Barcelona’s infamous Sants Station. First pictured over 10 years ago in Transworld magazine, the city’s largest train station now doubles as the place to skate. Each element of the shoe is completely inspired by the location and the local SNT skaters. Elements of the architecture as well as as the vibe of the skating mecca can were incorporated into the shoe.

Today I rocked the Barcelona’s for two of my heroes – Dave and Ronald. Dave’s last name is Barcelona so it’s fitting. I wish I had a cool name like that! And Ronald just loves this shoe. So this one’s for you bud!

Kauai in Review

Sam and I at airportAbout a month ago, I was at Edomasa having dinner with The Greens. Brian mentioned they were going on vacation and Margaret chimed in to invite me. After a few “really? Are you serious?” questions, we contacted our travel agent (we have the same one) and my flight was booked. Unlike the Mediterranean trip, this wait was much much shorter. Their friend, Paul picked them up and then they came by my place around 6:15 AM on Tuesday morning. Soon, we were on our way to the Santa Barbara Airport. Though, it had only been about 6 months since I flew, everytime I go, I always am confused and nervous about how everything works. Brian brought loads of electronics including GPS, 8 MP digital camera, and the newest baddest Sony HD camcorder. He also had battery packs and chargers for everything. Not surprisingly, he was searched by security.

Homecoming P$ Style

My roommate picked me up from the Santa Barbara Airport in my car. What a way to end the “nobody drives my car, but me” record. Oh well. We switched spots; he unloaded his luggage from the trunk then I loaded mine. He gave me the keys and I went home. He left for Oregon.

When I entered the apartment, I had quite the surprise waiting for me. There were no less than 7 boxes (one over 6 feet long) and packages neatly stacked by my door. It was like going on vacation and coming home to Christmas. I really wish I had the time or inclination to take some pictures. Sorry, I didn’t. I cut open box after box, knowing what each held since I was expecting them all. Then one had me stumped for a second. The label was professionally printed, it came from an address in Northern California that sounded familiar. I couldn’t put my finger on it. Then I saw who it was addressed to.

When I opened it up, it was full of surprises. Prakash sent me new Medium shoes (that we got to order at a discount) and my Christmas present. Look how excited I was, I didn’t even put on the decals.

Prakash Box 2 Thumb

I am going to try to fly it tomorrow. It’s too late and dark out now. When I got to work, I checked my Calendar and what do I see? What a novel way of communicating. Kudos to you, friend.
