Virginia Tech Shootings

VT Shootings

I can’t let this day end without saying something about the events that transpired at Virginia Tech. I worked with my friend Josh for two years at NGC and he was the first one I contacted when I heard about the recent scares. I admitted later, after we had spent all day exchanging news briefs about the story, that when I had contacted him, I didn’t realize that the events had transpired the way they had. I got my first glimpse of the story from a post on Anandtech’s Off-Topic section of their message board. The poster just said in a post titled “WTF!!!!!! – Virginia Tech” with a Summary of “My school is going crazy!!”:

Within the past two weeks my college has had two (2) bomb threats and classes in those and surrounding buildings were all canceled. I just found out that there was a shooting in one of the dorms just a couple of minutes ago.

One complete side of campus is locked down with cops, I just had a cop with a loaded shotgun walk into my class and tell us to stay put.

Now we know it’s the worst mass shooting in US history and perhaps 3rd in the world. There are so many theories and thoughts going through everyone’s minds. Many of mine are filled with confusion and frustration and yes, lots of blame and questions. I’ve been getting most of my feeds VT Memorial Ribbonguerrilla style from sites like the Collegiate Times and Wikipedia. I remember how all the news agencies basically shutdown after 9/11 and I just glad we are able to get reliable information nowadays.

My thoughts are with the victims and their families. For many, this is not something you can recover fully from.
