Bananas
Brown Sugar
Pecans (key secret ingredient)
Bacardi 151 Rum
Vanilla Ice Cream
Combine bananas and sugar in a pan and heat to soften fruit and caramelize the sugars. Stir in the nuts. Add rum and flambe to remove most of the alcohol. Serve with vanilla ice cream.

Do you know why it’s called “Bananas Fosters”? the banana part is obvious. Is fosters a rum? Or a guy?
Alex, I was wondering this myself so I looked it up and here is what Wikipedia had to say:
“It was named for Richard Foster, a friend of Owen Brennan’s and New Orleans Crime Commission chairman”
Brennan’s is the restaurant where it was created, in New Orleans.
Is flambe at home safe? It’s pretty awesome in public. I’ve actually seen this happen at Brennan’s, which, like much dining in New Orleans, seems like something sexy for your grandparents.
