Shoes: Trovata x Vans

Description: One of my favorite clothing companies was started in 2002 by three friends, based out of Newport Beach CA. They won a $200,000 grant from CFDA/Vogue Fashion and this prize really put them on the map. Recently, two of the founders started a new line called Shipley & Halmos. I bought these shoes from Blue Bee in Santa Barbara (surprisingly) when Trovata was still on top of its game. It is a collaboration with Vans, another So. Cal beach/skae/surf company so in that sense it’s fitting yet the two companies and their demographics are pretty far apart. Think the OC vs kids at the skate park. The shoes are a great mix of corduroy (which you don’t see too often on Vans), a leather toebox and even thick leather laces. Usually, you don’t want leather laces because they never can tighten but luckily these Vans are practically slip-ons.
