It’s 3:30 in the morning and a ferret has been trying to get into my sleeping bag so I can’t sleep. Instead I am lying here thinking about, what else, life. That and that I am going to pay for this in an hour when I have to get up. I am headed to RYLA, a leadership camp for high school teens.
Late last night I found out my friend Cory died on Monday. I will write a tribute later but could not bear the thought of not putting some ink to paper, sort to speak, ASAP.
You will be missed dearly. Thank you for all the life lessons.
The topic of Missed Connections has come up a few times in the last month among my group of friends. The discussion always results in immediately laughter and sometimes surprise. My personal CL MC story – I wrote one for a checker at Costco I thought was really cute and did it to the Budweiser Real Men of Genius song. I quickly got an enthusiastic response back. Not from the subject, but from her best friend who sympathetically informed me that she (the Costco girl) was gay. Oops
Today, thanks to LAist, I learned about a really cool webseries on the LA Times website called ICU. It’s a collection of short video interviews of the people who write MC’s. Katy Newton is the genius behind it and I really enjoyed the three I’ve watched so far. You might go into it thinking you are going to laugh at these people, but instead, you immediately feel sympathetic to them and even can identify.

For some reason, the navigation on the homepage is broken. It’s the PREV and NEXT arrows that let you go between pages. However, if you click on a post, say one at the bottom of this page, you can navigate to previous posts from there. I have no idea what’s wrong so it might not get fixed for a while. Sorry.
