Google Fixed My iPhone Voicemail

As many of you know, AT&T royally messed up the visual voicemail on iPhones. Heck, forget about the “visual” part, my voicemail does not work at all. If you call me and leave me VM, I will not get any notification that you did so, nor will I be able to listen to it on my iPhone. I just have to call my own number to access the inbox and deal with it there. You don’t know how annoying it is to have to manage your voicemail with the keypad.

Anyway, yesterday, Google Voice announced they were opening up their voicemail management to not only Voice numbers but your own cell. The setup consisted of just going to my Settings page and activating voicemail for my cell phone. Then on my iPhone, I entered in a series of numbers which basically set it to forward voicemail to my GV number. That’s it.

Now callers hear my Google Voice prompt and I get SMS and email notifications of new voicemails, transcripts, and I get to keep all my voicemail regardless if I change carriers or numbers.
